Q. When was newDemocracy founded?
The newDemocracy foundation was established in 2004 and incorporated in May 2007, by concerned individuals from both sides of the political divide, as a not-for-profit research organisation.
Q. How will the foundation go about achieving its aims?
The Foundation aims to achieve this:
by encouraging and providing a range of forums for sharing of information and discussing the nature of Australian democracy as it has evolved since Federation,
by questioning and evaluating whether the institutions and conventions of the Australian political system are effective mechanisms for governance,
by devising, providing and piloting options for new or revised models that could be developed to improve citizen representation and engagement in the political process.
For nDF, the central focus of the discussion, research and testing is governance reform, and the ways people may be empowered to have a say in the political processes of policy design and decision making.
