4Hi,
I note that the report indicates that there were three times as much support for option 1a than option 2, and yet option 2 is the option prefered by the report. Who made this decision? Why was option 2 the prefered option?
The report notes "In recommending this option it is also considered that aged care and preferably supportive housing should be developed."
Wikipedia tells me that 'supportive housing' is targeted at low-income workers such as the homeless, those suffering from mental illness, those with substance abuse problems and the elderly or medically frail.
It would appear that because aged care facilities are the less preffered option, the proposed supportive housing would be used for the homeless, those suffereing from mental illness and/or those with substance abuse problems.
I'm not sure how much community support there is for this proposal, noting the above. I would be interested in the views of other residents, and comment from Purden Associates.

2I went to the regionaland local meetings for Village Creek and the Woden area and there was far more than three times the support. There was unanimous support for retaining the sites as is. The only real mention/support for selling off some of the land for some form of housing was when the Purden people pushed this option and got a luke warm response from a few at the meetings. From this they have derived there was support for option 2. Now it is the preferred option. Purden and Associates even admitted to us that they had to put options to the government that the Government would want and we all know they want to well these sites. The whole process so far has been a sham. The Government want us to think we are having a say but really they have already made up their minds.
Now we are told the whole site is to be levelled and new buildings plus aged/supportinve care facilities built yet there is no plan of what this really means. How are we surposed to vote on this without some idea of how much of the site will be used for care facilities and how much for the community. Sorry but I am very sceptical of this whole process and fear that at the end of the day we will end up with a token hall/park facilities will the majority of the site is turned into housing.
Hopefully this time we will get some future plans for the site where the boundaries don't change after the consultation process has completed and where the real wishes of the community get listened too rather than just the dollar signs in the Government's eyes.
A very disallusioned Kambah resident.

1Comment on part ‘4.2.3 Landscape Assessment’; I would disagree with the statement
“The site is adjacent to a large area of urban open space to the south. The urban open
Space is planted with eucalypts and was identified as a popular recreation area by the
Community (Figure 7).”
The oval to the south west of to existing school building is also a part of the open space used as a popular recreation area.
This area should be zoned as appropriate for an oval or park. It may not be in regular use currently as an oval; but as the eastern part of Kambah is developed by urban infill a small oval will be invaluable. The availability of an under developed oval at Village Creek will allow the government to further develop this oval without having to resume this land from other usage. Other sites that are flat enough for this use are not available East Kambah. The nearest other site is Mount Neighbor which is separated by a major road from East Kambah. The existing nature Strips provide an excellent buffer around the oval.
