Council has not provided information to the community generally on how they will actually go about consulting with the community via the Communithy Engagement Panel and Residents' Panel. The timeframes in the Management Plan display gaps when the community does not have a suitable forum (other than this website) at which to raise concerns about the myriad of plans currently up for adoption.

Goal 12

12.1.1 - What is happening about community consultation while Council develops its Communications Plan (by December 2008) "Inform the community" I think not.... and Council is required by State Government legislation to consult with the community. There is a 6-12 months gap where there is no public forum (other than this) for residents to raise concerns.

12.2.1 Community Engagement Framework and Matrix - when will this be available to the general public for comment. Does the public know that there is no community person on the Community Engagement Panel - They are all Council bureaucrats who can set the agenda to achieve the "community consultation" outcomes they desire.

12.2.3 as per 12.2.1

12.2.4 How will the Residents Panel be established? What will be the criteria for involvement in this?

12.2.5 Community satisfaction survey last year was conducted in late October to December - at a time when most people are gearing up for Christmas and other activities. A survey is not high on the priority list. How many people (and from what demographics) participated last year. I question the use of the survey as a implement for measuring Council performance. In efforts to keep it short the measurement of performance in actual locations is lost, eg, libraries, parks etc.
