3I have no problem with the half and half development and park proposed but I would like some clarification as to what 'supported housing' might be.
The elderly or disabled - ok but if it includes things like drug rehab, parole hostels or homeless shelters then its not the right place.

1From what I have seen so far retaining half the site for the community might be wishful thinking. We will get a token community handout (hall, park etc) so that we can't complain when the rest of the site becomes aged/supportive care. I hope I am wrong here and this is only my scepticism from attending the previous schools meetings and feeling like it was a total waste of time as at the end of the day the Government is proceeding with what they we planning with these sites from day 1 regardless of the overwhelming support to not put any form of housing on these sites.
I agree the site is not suitable for things like drug rehab, parole hostels or homeless shelters.

3I agree.
I would suggest that it is difficult for residents to make a decision/comment on this issue without more substantial information about how the supportive housing will be allocated, its purpose and even its proposed design features.

2It would appear that the report's preferred option is for supportive housing over elderly facilities.
The report notes "In recommending this option it is also considered that aged care and preferably supportive housing should be developed."
Wikipedia tells me that 'supportive housing' is targeted at low-income workers such as the homeless, those suffering from mental illness, those with substance abuse problems and the elderly or medically frail.
It would appear that because aged care facilities are the less preffered option, the proposed supportive housing would be used for the homeless, those suffereing from mental illness and/or those with substance abuse problems.

2It is obvious the demographics in Kambah have significantly changed. Meaning we have a local population which is aging. We also have a number of young people with intellectual disabilities who live in the area and would benefit from living in supported accommodation. Hence I think we should build a complex comprising garden units not unlike the Dyraba units in Beazley Street, Mawson. This type of building would suit aged persons. We could also build a small number of homes for people with intellectual disabilities in a supported accommodation environment. The main accommodation we think should be as auggested above for the aged, albeit in garden unit format. I and many others do not want people with drug and mental health issues in supported accommodation.
As for the rest of the site, some watered gardens, tennis courts, community hall and retain the playground equipment for the community and visiting grandchildren.

0It would be much more pleasant for occupants and surrounding neighbours if a pleasant village complex could be built. Consideration should be given to being energy efficient e.g. siting of homes and water recycled to maintain the surrounding existing trees which are a very attractive feature of this area.

2Exactly. How are we honestly expected to respond without having a much more detailed idea of what the Government is REALLY planning? I have already seen them twist peoples responses to their preferred option of selling off the site. So far the flyer that we received in the mail is too brief and openended which really makes it impossible to comment fully and unless you are concerned about the future use of the site most people will just ignore it. We are still dealing with issues of having to drive kids to school everyday rather than walking?
