4In particular on this site are trees which were planted by the school community, and the playground area was partially funded by the school community as well.
That said, the entire site should be retained by as a community asset without being sold. This site has acted as a hub for the community until school closure at the end of 2006.
The decision to sell the site was based on misleading information issued by government (as noted under comments on Purdon reports for this site).
The community has never been adequately consulted and their needs have never been properly looked at and addressed. Sale of this site at this stage would be a travesty of justice and will only serve to further entrench disenfranchisement of the local community.

4As a student at the school in the 1980's we planted what was then called "The Environmental Area". I'd like to think that these trees and shrubs planted by us and our parents would be preserved.
The area was intended to create a mini eco system to attract small animals, insects and to teach us the value of the environment we live in. In fact if I remember correctly, there was even a small plaque on each planting indicating who planted it, the date and the type of plant it was. I'll never forget going in there for class and then over the years feeling so proud and connected knowing that I contributed.
