It is a valuable site which apart fom trees in the north is realively flat and open - perfect for more approriate housing and community development. It's close to public transport and within walking distance to the excellent shops which should be supported. The site provides an excellent opportunity for medium density housing up to 3 storeys in the centre going down to single story community/housing at the periphery. The height would provide security as it overlooks the space and sometimes unused community spaces. Agree, we need alternative housing for aging Curtiners.

I value that it is public-owned land, and that I therefore get a say in its purpose – don't sell it off!

Use it for community purposes. Build some medium-density housing by all means, but make it *good* (for the people AND the environment) and available to people on low incomes or with special needs.

Other ideas worth considering:

– lease a bit out for a restaurant/café

– set up a community childcare centre

– develop an organic community garden

Let's be both clever and kind!

Finding Childcare in the Woden/Weston creek area has been a nightmare. Whatever you decide to do with the rest of the site - keep the Teddy Bears Child Care Centre open. There are not enough child care places as there is and it is only going to get worse with the current baby boom.
